First outing…

It’s typical that early, first works by people, are shaky and a bit flat.
That’s fine, I have no issue with that, but I thought it right to make a start, as it’s been long enough now.

The gear is all basic, but it’s doable and as soon as I start getting the time to do more I will.
So here it is.

Cameras used:
DJI Action 4 (on standard profile with rocksteady+) and Olympic Stylus 1 (with the s1 update)

For the action cam, I was given a cheap “4k action cam” which I tried out a few weeks back with my Hohem Isteady pro 4 gimbal (2nd hand)
The picture quality was fine, but the footage was awful.
No stabe at all, made me feel bog-eyed watching it back.
So I tried a borrowed DJI Action 4 – on it’s standard handheld extension piece – far better!
Very stable footage, good in low light (dull weather – under trees, etc) no need for a gimbal.

I was going to use my Canon 70D (2nd hand) with a DJI Ronin RSC2 gimbal (borrowed) but it was panning it down when I set out.
So instead, for just a few scenic shots, I used an old Olympus Stylus 1 (with s1 software upgrade), which was given to me by a family member.
I looked up the specs on it, a point and shoot/fixed lens camera and I was amazed to find it had stabe!
So I took a couple of scenic shots handheld with this to add it to the footage.

I downloaded all the footage clips to Davinci Resolve (version 19 is released now) and just edited it with cuts and pauses, no colour grading or anything like that. (As you can no doubt tell!)
* On a side note, I’ve used Davinci Resolve for a couple of years now, for editing together family clips and added tunes to them for fun.
I like the software, it has bags of potential and features, is completely free and works.

I chose a walkaround film to make as I’ve been watching a regular short films from an area where I used to live, years ago.
Mr K, takes Tiggy out with him and strolls around with a GoPro, then posts it to youtube.
I like the films, it’s cool in an old-fashioned sort of way, plus I get to see what’s happening where I used to live.

Give him a look if you’re at a loose end, it’s nothing serious, but works for me.

Be well.
